Peace Poster Project
Our Club submitted 16 posters from 3 schools namely SJKC Kong Min Pusat, SJKC Kong Min Caw 1, SJKC Kong Min Caw 2 for the LCI/District/Regional Peace Poster contest.
(29/9/2020) Health Awareness Project
(Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Hunger awareness & Blood Donation)
PP Hing Lee Hong who was appointed the Club Chairperson for the 4 LCI Service Projects, attended the 1st meeting which was held at Wisma Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu at 8pm on 29/9/2020. The project proper will be held on later this year on 26/12/20(Saturday) between hours from 10am to 4pm.
Todate, 12 Lions Clubs in Region 1 have agreed to jointly organised the project. PP Hing reported the followings discussed.
☆Diabetes
-diabetes kits will be test
- Diabetes talk by professional
☆Childhood cancer -awareness by beauty queens
-cancer patients will be coming
-childhood cancer information to be spread
☆hunger awareness
- funds raising to orphanage, old folks, unfortunate people
- knowledge of hungers
☆Blood donation
- min of 100 packs to GH
(27/9/2020) Attending Joint Installation of 11 Lions Clubs from Region 1
5 GTM Lions and Mr. Alvin attended the Joint Installation of 11 Lions Clubs from Region 1.They were President Saran, IPP (Z4C) Samantha Sam, PP (DC) Joyline Chai, Lion Darren Lee, Lion Eric Ch'ng and his friend Alvin. The function was held at Penang Golf Club on 27/9/2020.
Our new members were introduced to several Lion dignitaries including PID Datin Hjh Ellis Suriyati Hj Omar and they soon moved around to get to know other Lions from other club.
PID Datin Hjh Ellis Suriyati was introduced to our new members and she presented each of them a LCIF Empowering Service Pin.
(26/9/2020) Region 1 Recycle (Environmental) Project - E-Refurbishing to E-Learning
President Saran and Club Chairperson for the project, Eric Ch'ng attended the R1 Recycling (Environmental) project with a Handover of E-Learning Devices Ceremony at Sunshine Departmental Store & Supermarket, Bayan Lepas, Penang. The objective was to collect and refurbish PC, laptop, smart phone for needy students. Lion Eric said that our club collected many items including 4 monitors, a elite desktop, 3 laptop and a tablet.
(20/9/2020) Peace Poster Project
CP Danny Lim and PP Peter Koay presented Peace Poster Kits to 3 schools namely SJKC Kong Min Pusat, SJKC Kong Min Caw 1, SJKC Kong Min Caw 2 to participated in the Peace Poster Contest.

16/9/2020) 'GOLDEN LION' presentation at Club's 3rd Regular Meeting
Members with 40 years of Lionistic services and/or age 80 years above were considered as The Golden Lions. Five Lions from our club were recipients, namely: PCC Allan Cheah, CP Danny Lim, PP Quah B.A., PP Anthony Goh and PP Leong W.K.
PCC Allan Cheah was invited to make the presentation to the recipients witnessed by President Saran and IPP Sam who is also the Zone 4 Chairperson during our Club's 3rd Regular Meeting.
8/9/2020) Working Together to Relief Hunger
President Saran, IPP Samantha Sam and Lion Daphne Wong together with the KSK volunteers, took turns serving hot meals for the homeless of Penang's inner city. This has been an ongoing project since 2011.

(28/10/2020) Needy Family Project
On 28/10/2020 afternoon GTM Lions visited two needy families. Organising Chairperson Lion Joyce Cheah reported that they visited Mr. Munasamy A/L Anjang and Mdm Saraswathy.
It was a moment of happiness when the needy families saw the GTM Lions. Lion Joyce said that they were warmly welcomed by the families to their home. One look into their eyes reviewed to us that Lions have given them a ray of hope; thus we have made a difference even by small actions of giving.

13/10/2020 HUNGER RELIEF PROJECT
President Saran together with Lion Lily Teoh, Lion Alvin Lee and Lion Ponny Ong served hot meals to over 80 less fortunate and homeless at our monthly “Feed The Hunger” project together with Kechara Soup Kitchen volunteers.
7/10/2020 IPP SAMANTHA AND PP JOYLINE PARTICIPATING IN THE REGION 1 (2ND MEETING) VIA ZOOM
5/10/2020 CP DANNY LIM, IPP SAMANTHA, AND PP PETER KOAY PRESENTED PEACE POSTER PRIZES TO THE STUDENTS OF THE RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS, WITNESSED BY THE HEAD OF THE SCHOOL. BESIDES THE PRIZES, A TOKEN AMOUNT OF RM100 WERE GIVEN TO THE WINNING PARTICIPANTS.
4/10/2020 PEACE POSTER PRIZE PRESENTATION AT GURNEY PARAGON MALL. 16 PEACE POSTERS WERE SUBMITTED BY OUR CLUB. 4 OF THEM CAPTURED THE HEARTS OF THE JUDGES AND RECEIVED 3RD PRIZE AND 3 CONSOLATION PRIZES. THESE POSTERS REFLECT PEACE AS SEEN BY THE YOUNG STUDENTS. CP DANNY LIM AND IPP SAM RECEIVED THE PRIZES ON BEHALF OF THE PARTICIPANTS AS THEY WERE NOT PRESENT.

IPP Sam invited our Club and Sister Club Members for the Countdown 2021. Though the response and attendance weren't that good but it was a night to remember.

A Review of Club Activities 2020
Lions of GTM continued its signature project "Hunger
Relief" to serve the needy people on 8/12/2020.
IPP Samantha and Lion
Daphne Wong were at the Kechara Soup Kitchen Centre to give out free meals to 80 homeless and
needy people together with the KSK volunteers.
As it was still the period of the pandemic Covid 19, we kept the number
of Lions attending the project to a minimum.
Lion Daphne said that she wouldn't
miss the project as she was able to serve meals to needy people with love and
kindness.
The homeless and needy people rely so much on free meals when their stomachs
are empty.
ANNOUNCEMENT
So sad to hear the passing of our former Past President, Dato' R. Sethupandian, the Lion I sponsored on 11/1/2000.
He served as our Past President fy 2004-2006 which were memorable years for us. Being an executive secretary of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, he had a great influence on the Indian community. The late Dato Pandian emerged as one of the outstanding Lion when he took office as our club president. He had a good fellowship in the Lions fraternity. He was able to connect with most of the government departments. In 2004 he sponsored PP R. Ganeson into our club.
He led our club to great heights when so many meaningful projects were carried out during his term of office. Our club added another District Governor during his year when Dato' Khoo Kay Huat was endorsed and elected at the convention. Because of work commitment, he left our club in 2015. May his soul rest in peace. Read more

Relieving the Hunger, the Club's signature project has been one of the great challenges since 2012.GTM Lions reached people tackling hunger at Kechara Soup Kitchen Centre. Today's project is sponsored by CP Danny Lim. Hands-on, he made sure he provided nutritious meals to 90 homeless.
Immediate Past President Sam and Lion Cindy Chew gave support to the food distribution.
Region 1 Humanitarian Project 10-11 January 2021
GTM Lions Club participated in the Region 1 Humanitarian Project. The Lions took delivery of 12,000 buns sponsored by PPB Group Bhd (Kuok Foundation). YB Yeoh Soon Hin and his committee helped identify the families staying in apartment blocks in Relau. The Lions helped to distribute the packs of buns to the families.
LC George Town Mutiara participated in the 'Lions Bersama PDRM signature program' with the donation of FACE MASKS & HAND SANITIZERS to PDRM this morning 28/2/2021.
GTM Lions, IPP Sam, Lion Lily, Lion Eric, and Lion Alvin distributed hot meals to the needy and homeless.

GTM Lions have long been deeply involved in the 'Relieving The Hunger' project.
Attending today's project were PP Peter Koay, Lion Lily Teoh, and Lion Joyce Cheah. The recipients, mostly homeless followed SOP and collected the meal boxes in an orderly manner. One of them who received assistance from us for cataract removal was present. He said, "Thank you Lions Club. I shall not go hungry tonight."
On 3/3/2021, OC Joyce Cheah together with IPP Sam and PP Peter Koay presented food groceries to needy family Mrs. Munasamy. She and her husband are unable to walk due to diabetes.

On 28/04/2021, Needy Family Chairperson Lion Joyce Cheah together with Imm. Past President Samantha presented food groceries to needy family Mr & Mrs Munasamy. Both of them were unable to walk due to diabetes.

LCGTM has something to say to you...
A reminder to attend the meeting...Ayam Cares, Ayam Dindings is a Region 1 Project. The food aid is donated by Malaysian Flour Mills Berhad's employees, families, and their business associates. LCGTM participated in the project on 11/4/2021. Our Project Chairperson Lion Justin, President Saran, and IPP Samantha were at the scene to receive the boxes of frozen chicken and then to distribute them to three Homes, namely Silver Jubilee Home, Penang Cheshire Home, and Bethesda Home.
