Jointly with the Omega Leo Club of GT Mutiara, a Health Awareness Talk on “Stroke - BE FAST" was carried out on 2/3/2022.  The project was in collaboration with Pantai Hospital Penang. The Speaker, Dr. Wong Yee Choon is no stranger in this field and in spite of his busy schedule took time off to share the importance of stroke.

The webinar was on zoom and also broadcast life on Facebook. The project created awareness to the public of the importance of recognizing symptoms of a stroke and acting FAST. We are glad the participants responded positively with many questions after the session.

HUNGER RELIEF PROJECT

On 10/5/2022, by 3.30pm about 50 homeless and urban poor were already in the queue waiting to collect the meals outside the Kechara Soup Kitchen Centre. Soon the crowd gathered and we started distributing the hot meals at 4.00pm.  PP Samantha, the Club Service Chair, and PP Peter Koay, DC Hunger Relief attended the project and distributed more than 100 hot meals. Besides an exchange of the 'thank you' signs, there were also exchanges for smiles behind the masks. The distribution was orderly carried out. LCGTM appreciates the assistance of the KSK volunteers.

NEEDY FAMILY PROJECT

As reported by OC Joyce Cheah

On the 3/5/2022  PP Samantha and I went to Munusamy’s house to deliver him groceries for the month of May. The family was so happy to see us. Munusamy said it was timely that we came as the fridge was almost empty.

On 8/5/2022 (Sunday), three Lions, namely CP Danny, PP Samantha, and myself presented to the family of Ong Lai Hock with the foodstuff.

Later we proceeded to meet Mrs. Cheow at the usual place in Relau.

On 8/5/2022 morning, I met up with pupil Master Tan Boon Keat and his mother at Batu Lanchang Market Parking Lot to deliver monthly groceries to the family.

MEDICAL AID ASSISTANCE
LIONS IN ACTION - 6/5/2022

Lion President Lily Teoh and Lion Cindy Chew listened attentively to Mdm Tan. She has a bilateral eye cataract. She applied to LCGTM for Medical Aid Assistance.

President Lily thanked Fellow Lions for their support and attendance during the 12th Regular/BOD Meeting. She reported that the club has continued to carry out community services without fail. She was happy the club has good and committed leaders and hope they will continue to support the club. The club has gained recognition for its standard of meetings. She hopes to see more rookie Lions attending the club meetings.

“No matter whether you are new or an old team member, you need time to adjust to one another,” says Leo Yao Ming.

It was a memorable day for the Leo Club of Sacred Heart High School as they conducted the Regular cum Election Meeting physically. I saw the excitement and the sheer joy from the  Leos as they met each other in person.  The Leos were no more strangers. They spoke freely. I could see that every moment spent together feels new and exciting for them.

Leo President Eddy Sim called the meeting to order and conducted an Ice-Breaking game. All the Leos participated actively and I complimented the leadership of the president and fellow Leos. President Eddy then conducted the election meeting. Leo Lee Ai Shuang was elected and together with her Board of Directors. It was a good team and I know she can bring the club to higher level and this will keep the Flag of Leo Club of Sacred Heart High School flying high and proud.

Today (14/6/2022), we distributed 110 packets of hot meals to the homeless. Lions in Attendance: President Lily Teoh, CP Danny Lim, PP Sam Miew Heng, and PP Joyline Chai.

A signature project of the club, the Hunger Relief (Feeding the Hungry) Project started in 2011 when we joined hands with the Kechara Soup Kitchen.
We were informed that the Centre of Distribution will be changed to another venue.
For more information, please check with PP Sam Miew Heng.

WE SERVE
During the month of June, Lion Joyce Cheah attended to the needs of the Club's Needy Families.

Congratulations to our Leo Clubs on their incredible success. ..

Needy Family Project (Reported by OC Joyce Cheah)

During the month of June, I started the usual routine of purchasing groceries for needy families. Today (2/6/2022) I bought groceries for Munusamy. He was happy to see me and some new faces.

Three more families await our 'personal' grocery delivery services. We shall carry out the project on 10/6/2022 as arranged. Lions who can participate in delivery can call me or CP Danny Lim.

The Board approved Mr. Ong Kean Peng's appeal for medical aid at our last Board Meeting on 30/6/2022. Lion Elaine Pang was appointed OC.
Mr Ong was diagnosed with Stage 4 neck cancer. Chemo and radiation therapy are both treatments needed. He was found to be suffering from pneumonia and this may increase a person's risk. This delayed the procedure. The surgery was put on hold until the patient is ready to take it.
Today, LCGTM presented a cheque of RM2,000 from our Medical Fund for his personal needs as recommended by the doctor.

LCGTM participated in the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Food Bank & Financial Aid, a joint project with Lions Clubs in Regions 1, 2 & 3 on 31/5/2022. The project was also held in conjunction with 'International Women's Day 2022' at All Seasons Place, Farlim, Penang.

The 9am to 3pm program has activities that include food banks and financial aid presentations to needy families.

The 1st F2F (face-to-face) physical meeting was held at G Hotel (Kelawei), after a lapse of so many months. The meeting was fruitfully carried out. There was a great difference compared to the zoom meeting which we had. The body language and other nonverbal cues were stripped away. There were few interruptions and the meeting was conducted efficiently. Before 9pm the meeting was adjourned. We were able to build a stronger and more meaningful relationship. Regretfully, attendance could be better.
